Stags Honored on MAAC Women’s Lacrosse 40th Anniversary Team

Five student-athletes and former Head Coach Mike Waldvogel recognized by the conference

EDISON, N.J. – Five Fairfield University Women's Lacrosse alumnae have been recognized on the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) 40th Anniversary Team, as announced Tuesday by the conference. In addition, former Head Coach Mike Waldvogel was tabbed as one of three all-time great coaches in the conference's history.

Megan Beach (2016-19)
One of the top shutdown defenders in program history, Megan Beach was the 2019 MAAC Defensive Player of the Year to cap a career in which she earned All-MAAC First Team and All-ECAC Second Team laurels in both 2018 and 2019. She was named to the MAAC All-Championship Team on both ends of Fairfield's back-to-back conference crowns in 2018 and 2019. Also a team captain for the 2019 campaign, Beach ranks 20th in program history with 49 career caused turnovers.

Kristen Coleman (2008-11)
Kristen Coleman is Fairfield's all-time leading scorer with 257 points in just three active seasons with the Stags. She also holds the top two spots on the single-season list with 90 points in 2008 and 88 in 2009. Coleman's 186 career goals also top Fairfield's all-time list, as do her 68 markers in the 2008 campaign. She was 2008 MAAC Rookie and Offensive Player of the Year, then repeated as Offensive Player of the Year in 2009. Coleman was also an IWLCA All-Region Second Team and All-MAAC First Team honoree in all three of her active seasons.

Alex Fehmel (2014-17)
A dominant two-way midfielder, Alex Fehmel ranks eighth in Fairfield history with 167 career points and 125 career goals, and also slots fourth in caused turnovers (80), 14th in ground balls (118) and 15th in draw controls (80). Fehmel is also Fairfield's career leader in game-winning goals with 11. She was a two-time All-MAAC First Team honoree, a 2016 IWLCA All-Region Second Team selection and earned two berths on the MAAC All-Championship Team, including in the Stags' 2015 championship campaign.

Beth Loffredo (2003-06)
Beth Loffredo ranks fourth on Fairfield's all-time scoring list with 180 career points and 140 career goals, both of which were program records at the time of her graduation. She is also third on the Stags' ledger with 150 ground balls and fifth in caused turnovers with 79. Loffredo was the 2003 MAAC Rookie of the Year, 2004 MAAC Offensive Player of the Year, a 2006 IWLCA All-Region Second Team pick and a three-time All-MAAC First Team honoree.

Loffredo was also head coach of the Stags in 2008, leading Fairfield to the MAAC regular season title and its best winning percentage in program history at 17-2 (.895).

Chelsey Sidaras (2013-16)
Chelsey Sidaras is Fairfield's all-time leader with an 8.16 career goals-against average, including the top two marks in single-season history at 7.23 in 2014 and 7.30 in 2015. In the 2015 MAAC Championship season, Sidaras ranked third in the nation with a .510 save percentage. She is also Fairfield's leader among goalkeepers with 121 career ground balls, and led the Stags in the category overall with 39 pickups in 2014.

Head Coach Mike Waldvogel
Following a hall of fame career as the head coach of the Yale men's program, Mike Waldvogel took the reins as head coach of the Stags from 2009-15. A three-time MAAC Coach of the Year, Waldvogel won MAAC Championships in 2009 and 2015 and claimed the MAAC regular season on five occasions, including four perfect trips through the regular season. Overall, he boasted a 92-35 (.724) record and 42-4 (.913) mark in the MAAC regular season.
