Stags Start Road Stretch on Sunday at New Hampshire

Fairfield will play three straight away contests

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A span of three games and 27 days away from Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium starts this Sunday, March 1 when Fairfield University Women's Lacrosse travels to New Hampshire. Opening draw in Durham is set for noon.

The Stags (1-4) were edged this past Wednesday by visiting Boston University by a score of 14-12. Kelly Horning had a six-goal day for Fairfield, increasing her team-best totals to 14 goals and 17 points. Horning also leads the way in the midfield with 17 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers.

Monika Sivilli netted two goals with an assist against the Terriers to move her totals to 11 goals and 13 points, and Diana DeVita distribute her team-leading ninth helper of the spring.

In the cage, Olivia Conquest made a career-high 16 saves for the second consecutive game.

New Hampshire (1-2) opened its season with a 15-9 win over and has since fallen to Iona and UConn. The Wildcats went 10-7 last spring with a 5-2 tally in the America East to land only behind perennial national powerhouse Stony Brook and Albany in the conference standings.

Julia Neyland heads the New Hampshire attack with nine points – seven goals and two assists. Emily Curtis is the squad's leading goal scorer with eight tallies through three games. The Wildcats are averaging 10.33 goals per game and ceding 13.00 per contest – a number skewed by UConn's 21-goal outburst in their last outing.

Issy Torres and Amanda Gottlieb have shared duties in the cage. Torres owns the majority of the minutes with 113:09, posting a 14.32 goals-against average and .341 save percentage (27 goals, 14 saves). Gottlieb currently holds a 10.77 goals-against average and a .478 save percentage (12 goals, 11 saves) and has earned all three decisions in goal.

Fairfield is 7-5 all-time against New Hampshire, surging ahead in the series with a four-game winning streak. The series has been renewed annually for the last 10 campaigns (2010-19) with the Stags leading 7-3 over that span. The inaugural meetings were both victories for the Wildcats in 2004 and 2005.

Up next, Fairfield heads west to challenge #10 Denver on Sunday, March 8 at 3 PM (Eastern). The Stags will also visit crosstown foe Sacred Heart before returning home to Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium to open the MAAC schedule on Wednesday, March 25 against Quinnipiac.
