FAIRFIELD, Conn. --
Gordon Botterill earned a spot on the New England Soccer Journal's (NESJ) Goalkeepers To Watch, an annual preseason list that highlights the top returning players in New England at each position. The junior adds this honor to his selection to the Preseason All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) team which was announced by the conference earlier in August.
Botterill played in all 18 games last season and collected more than 1,600 minutes between the posts for Fairfield, helping the Stags win the MAAC regular-season title with an 8-0-2 record and an 11-5-3 overall slate. The goalkeeper posted a 1.03 goals against average with 62 saves that led to his .765 save percentage. Botterill also accumulated four shutouts and combined for a fifth with four of those clean sheets coming over the final regular-season games. He capped his 2018 campaign by earning the MAAC Goalkeeper of the Year award and a spot on the All-MAAC team. He also added a berth to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region team to his resume after the season concluded. Â
The Fairfield University men's soccer team, under Head Coach

After a game at Saint Joseph's on September 4, the Stags will play four straight games in the Nutmeg State beginning with home games against the University at Stony Brook (September 7) and the University of New Hampshire (September 14) before finishing with road games at Yale University (September 18) and the University of Hartford (September 21).
