Dear Stag Family,
Today we had the opportunity to go zip lining in the Hottentots Holland Mountains about 1500 meters above sea level. It was a truly exhilarating experience that we will definitely never forget. After taking an hour bus ride, we took a 30-minute open off-roading truck up the mountain. There, we were briefed through the safety training and got geared up. With heavy and secure safety harnesses, helmets, gloves with leather pads and bright reflective winter coats, we were ready to go. We took another 30 minute ride up the mountain.
Although the weather was far from ideal, we were excited to see what zip lining had in store for us. In our groups, we went through 11 separate zip lines – the longest line being 330 meters – and a few bridges to walk across. The views were unimaginable. Tears were shed, fears were conquered, and teeth were chattering from the cold, but in the end we came out with huge smiles on our faces. The memories we made are irreplaceable and were made that much better with our teammates on our sides. The instructors and some our teammates took GoPro videos, and we will be sharing them on Instagram soon!
