FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield men's tennis fought through every match on a chilly day on the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts but ultimately fell by a score of 6-1 to Marist.
In Doubles competition,
Lewis Edwards and
Tyler Shibles won at #1 Doubles by a score of 6-2 over Piotr Sowinski and Carlos Moreno. The Stags kept it close in #3 and #2 Doubles but could not get the wins they needed giving the Red Foxes the Doubles point.
In Singles competition,
Jeffrey Rodgers tallied the lone win for the Stags taking down John Oxner (7-5, 4-6, 6-4) at #4 Singles.
Allan Magid went three sets against Piotr Sowinski at #3 Singles but fell (6-7, 7-6, 1-6).
John Hatala also fought through three sets in #6 Singles falling by a score of (7-5, 3-6, 1-6).
"We competed hard today but unfortunately it wasn't quite enough" said Head Coach
Jeff Bricker. "We still need to play the big points better but they guys are still working hard. We've got a few days to work on things before Niagara."
Fairfield will return to action this Saturday at 12 P.M. as they host Niagara at the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts.
