FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield men's tennis put forth a dominating performance over Niagara today as they defeated the Purple Eagles by a score of 7-0.
The Stags won at #1 and #2 Doubles to clinch the Doubles point.
Tyler Shibles and
Lewis Edwards defeated Darrel Harxhi and Eduardo Villalpando 6-2 at #1 while
Jan Parizek and
Allan Magid took down Brent Boleslav and Lukas Wenninger 6-4 at #2.
Tyler Shibles started off Singles competition with a win at #1 Singles over Lukas Wenninger (6-2, 6-2).
Jeffrey Rodgers took down Bruno Goncalves at #4 (6-3, 6-3) while
Allan Magid finished off Finnbar Adams (6-3, 7-5) at #3. At #2,
Lewis Edwards defeated Darrel Harxhi (6-2, 7-6 (4-2)) and
Anthony Caputo won his match over Brent Boleslav (2-6, 6-2, 6-2).
John Hatala finished off the match with a win at #6 over Pere Padro Parra (6-2, 6-2).
"The guys put out a complete effort and I couldn't be more excited" said Head Coach
Jeff Bricker. "Hopefully we can use this as momentum for the rest of the conference season. Tomorrow we get to celebrate four years with our seniors,
Anthony Caputo and
Jeffrey Rodgers."
Fairfield returns to action tomorrow at 11 A.M. as they host St. Francis Brooklyn on their Senior Day.
