FAIRFIELD, Conn – Fairfield men's tennis struggled to pick up the points when they needed them today as they fell to Monmouth 7-0 making them 1-1 in the MAAC.
In Doubles play, the Stags battled at #1 and #3 Doubles as
Tyler Shibles and
Lewis Edwards fell 4-6 at #1 Doubles while
Anthony Caputo and
Jeffrey Rodgers dropped #3 Doubles 5-7.
In Singles, Fairfield came close to a win as
Tyler Shibles fell at #1 Singles (4-6, 4-6),
Jeffrey Rodgers was defeated at #4 Singles (3-6, 6-7), and
Lewis Edwards was taken down at #2 Singles (2-6, 4-6).
"Monmouth is a very solid team and they just played the big points better than us today" said Head Coach
Jeff Bricker. "We had our chances in Doubles and in most of the Singles matches, we just didn't convert enough. All we can do is get back to work tomorrow to prepare for Marist."
Fairfield will return to action on Tuesday as they host Marist at 3 P.M. on the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts.
