AMHERST, Mass. – Dylan Beckwith recorded the seventh 60-point season in Fairfield University Men's Lacrosse, and
Jack Brennan netted a hat trick, but the Stags were on the short side of a 17-8 loss at #15/15 UMass in CAA action on Saturday afternoon in Amherst. Beckwith racked up five points against the Minutemen to reach the 60-point plateau.
Beckwith scored his team-leading 28th goal of the spring for Fairfield (5-8, 0-4 CAA) and dished out four assists to run his total to 32 helpers. His 60 points lead the CAA while his 32 assists slot second and rate one short of the Stags' single-season program record. Today's effort also moved the junior up Fairfield's career charts, moving to 13th in points (115) and seventh in assists (60) as a Stag.
Brennan's hat trick on Saturday was his second of the campaign and fifth of his three-year Fairfield career.
Cole Barnard,
Brian Crawley,
Travis Ford and
Matt Sharpe each added a goal for the Stags with
Patrick Drake and
Brendan Dreyer rounding out the scoring with one assist apiece.
Barnard was also a lead in the midfield with two caused turnovers and three ground balls, while
Brian Cosgrove posted the same statline as a starting defenseman. Dreyer and
Jake Tymon led the Stags with four ground balls apiece.
At the faceoff X,
Frankie Labetti went 9-of-19 and was spelled by
Liam Lynch, who turned in a 5-of-8 showing on the draw.
James Corasaniti returned to the starting role in the cage and made seven saves in three quarters.
Sean McKee took over in the fourth frame and stopped four shots.
Chris Connolly led the UMass (9-4, 3-1 CAA) with two goals and six assists. Rookie Gabriel Procyk potted five goals for the Minutemen, and Kevin Tobin also had a five-point afternoon with a hat trick and two assists.
Flanked by the nation's top-ranked defense, Sean Sconone starred in the UMass cage with 21 saves.
Fairfield returns to Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium on Friday, April 26 to close out the regular season with a visit from Hofstra. Opening faceoff under the lights is slated for 7 p.m. with Senior Day ceremonies set for approximately 6:45 p.m.
The Pride are 4-9 on the season and 1-4 in the CAA after a 13-12 loss to Drexel this afternoon on Long Island.
