Beckwith dishes out five assists to break single-season program record

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – On a rainy night on Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium, Fairfield University Men's Lacrosse wrapped up the 2019 season with an 11-9 loss to visiting Hofstra in Colonial Athletic Association action. Dylan Beckwith distributed five assists in the contest to break the Fairfield single-season record with 37 helpers for the season.

Prior to the game, Fairfield (5-9, 0-5 CAA) recognized its seven-member senior class: Jack Brennan, Liam Lynch, Adam Riestis, Matt Sharpe and captains Kendall Keahey, Samuel Murphy and Brendan Quinn.

"It was a spirited game and we had the lead down the stretch but just weren't able to hold on. I feel for our seniors, because that's a tough pill to swallow, but those guys and others in our locker room have an awful lot to be proud of," said Head Coach Andy Copelan. "And Dylan Beckwith just had as good of an offensive season as a Fairfield Stag has put together in a long, long time."

In addition to setting a new Fairfield single-season record with 37 assists, Beckwith's five assists today ran his season total to 65 points – tied for fourth-most in program history and the most for a Stag since Spencer Steele racked up his program-best 75 points in 1999.

On Fairfield's career charts, Beckwith ranks fourth all-time with 65 career assists and shares 12th place on the all-time points list with 120. He will start his senior campaign with active streaks of 22 consecutive games with a point and 11 straight multiple-point outings.

In tonight's game, Patrick Drake scored four goals to match his career high and round out his freshman campaign with 21 markers and 31 total points. Taylor Strough added his 24th and 25th goals of the spring, with single tallies coming from Brennan, Travis Ford and Brendan Dreyer. Ford also distributed an assist and Zane Friedt picked up a helper in transition to notch his first point as a Stag.

On the other end of the field, Brian Cosgrove and Tyler Wuchte each scooped up three ground balls. Cosgrove also posted a pair of caused turnovers, while George Elmquist registered his team-leading 22nd caused turnover to finish the campaign tied for fourth on Fairfield's single-season list.

James Corasaniti made 13 saves to round out his rookie season protecting the Fairfield cage. Corasaniti, who also scooped up three ground balls this evening, made double-digit saves in eight of his 12 starts this year.

Hofstra (5-9, 2-3 CAA) also completed its 2019 season this evening. The Pride was led by five points – three goals and two assists – from Ryan Tierney and a hat trick with one assist for Dylan McIntosh.
