FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield women's tennis improved to 2-0 in the MAAC today as they took down Monmouth by a score of 6-1 on the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts.
The Stags started off strong as they dominated Doubles play winning all three matches. At #3 Doubles,
Courtney Connors and
Sophia Prinos defeated Sydney DeNardo and Zaynah Muhammad 6-0 while
Aina March and
Amanda Nowak won their match over Sophia Fredriksson and Maria Ivanova 6-0 at #1 Doubles.
Diana Prinos and
Emily Lombardi finished off Nicole Gasser and Alexandra Graff at #2 Doubles by a score of 7-5.
The success continued for Fairfield in Singles play as
Anna Komer started off with a win at #4 Singles over Sophia Fredriksson (6-1, 6-2).
Amanda Nowak then took down Alexandra Graff at #2 Singles (6-0, 6-2) while
Emily Lombardi defeated Sydney DeNardo (6-0, 6-0) at #6 Singles. At #5 Singles,
Sophia Prinos took down Rachel Rosenthal (6-1, 6-0).
Aina March tallied the final win for the Stags at #3 Singles over Chinonye Gabriel (6-3, 6-0).

Jeff Bricker. "We needed a win after a few tough losses in a row. Our Doubles is looking better which has been a big focus this spring. We are 2-0 in the conference and looking forward to playing Marist & Niagara next week!"
Fairfield will return to action at home against Marist on Thursday, April 11 at 3 P.M. on the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts.
