Scouting Canisius
Canisius comes to Rafferty Stadium vying for the sixth playoff spot in the MAAC Championship, owning a record of 2-13 overall and 2-5 in the MAAC. While the Griffs are not in a true "win and in" situation, a victory would greatly improve their odds of extending their campaign into the postseason.
Â
Jourdan Roemer heads Canisius offensively with 55 points, leading the club with 38 goals and 17 assists. Marissa Malvaso adds 39 points and Bryar Cummings has tallied 28.
Three goalkeepers have shared starting duties in 2019, led by Lauren Gilbert with 466 minutes in the cage. She holds a .404 save percentage and 15.19 goals-against average. Shannon Maroney has played 386:42 en route to a .367 save percentage and a 16.29, with Ellen Newton adding a .265 save percentage and 23.61 GAA in 63:32 of action.
Â
Two wins over Canisius last year, including the 2018 MAAC Championship Game, extended the Stags' lead in the all-time series to 16-12. The Griffs have won the last three meetings in Fairfield, with the Stags last topping Canisius on their home field in 2011.
