FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield women's tennis improved to 4-0 in the MAAC today as they defeated Niagara by a score of 5-2.
The Stags started the match winning the Doubles point with victories at #1 and #3 Doubles.
Aina March and
Amanda Nowak defeated Chhinda Som and Megan Gamble at #1 by a score of 6-2 while
Anna Komer and
Jessica Pil took down Ali Hutchinson and Olga Donchu 6-4 at #3.
In Singles play,
Sophia Prinos finished off Megan Gamble at #5 Singles (6-1, 6-1) while
Amanda Nowak took down Chhinda Som at #1 (6-2, 6-1) to give Fairfield a 3-0 lead.
Anna Komer sealed the win for the Stags at #4 Singles with her victory over Shannon Wong (6-2, 6-2).
Emily Lombardi also picked up a win at #6 Singles defeating Erika Gonzalez 8-5.
"I could not be prouder of the effort today" said Head Coach
Jeff Bricker. "We fought back and won the doubles point and kept our foot on the gas in singles. We have some big conference matches next week, but tomorrow we get to honor our seniors Gabby and Courtney!"
Fairfield returns to action tomorrow at 11 A.M. as they host St. Francis Brooklyn on their Senior Day.
