Marist Snaps Baseball’s Winning Streak

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Marist's Frankie Gregoire launched a third inning grand slam to open up the scoring for the Red Foxes and their runs did not stop coming as Marist snapped Fairfield's six-game winning streak with an 11-2 decision on a windy Monday afternoon.

Gregoire's game changing homer came with two outs in the third inning as he pushed a ball through the wind to give Marist a 4-0 lead. The Red Foxes would add to their lead and put the game out of reach with a six run fifth inning.

The Stags pushed their first run across in the bottom of the fourth as Dan Ryan singled home Jack Gethings with a RBI single, to put the score at 4-1. For Gethings, it was the 140th run scored of his career, placing him third on the program's all-time list and just two shy of tying for the top spot.

Dan Ryan would plate the other run for the Stags in the eighth as he came up with the bases loaded and skied a sacrifice fly to right field.

Ryan would lead the Stags with two of the team's six hits and carried both of their RBI.

The Fairfield bullpen did not allow an earned run as Brendan Harkin, Jason Hebner, and Tristan Amone were responsible for the final 5.2 innings. Hebner pitched the longest of the trio with two scoreless frames.

The six-game winning streak was the longest for the Stags since 2017.

Fairfield is back in action on Tuesday when they head to Storrs, Conn., for a contest against UConn at 3pm.
