NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Fairfield women's tennis played hard but was ultimately defeated by Stony Brook by a final score of 2-5. 
 
In Doubles competition, Aina March and Amanda Nowak tallied the lone win taking down Nolwenn Cardoso and Maria Pinto Ribeiro 6-2 in #2 Doubles.
 
In Singles, Anna Komer defeated Maria Pinto Ribeiro (7-6, 0-6, 1-0) in #4 Singles while Amanda Nowak took home the win in #2 Singles over Nolwenn Cardoso (6-3, 4-6, 1-0).
 
"Gritty match tonight against Stony Brook" said Head Coach Jeff Bricker.  "I was excited to see how we would play against a top caliber team like Stony Brook and I was pleased with how we competed. I wouldn't say we played our best, but we fought for every point and competed at a high level. This is the type of match that we can look back on for confidence when we get into MAAC matches. Amanda and Anna played great today and got very good wins!"
 
The Stags will return to action on Sunday, March 17 as they travel to Charleston, South Carolina to take on the College of Charleston.
