ORANGEBURG, S.C. – Fairfield men's tennis put forth a strong effort against South Carolina State but fell short by a score of 2-5.
The Stags won the Doubles point as
Lewis Edwards and
Tyler Shibles defeated Juan Ramirez and Marcelo Rodriguez 6-2 in #1 Doubles while
Jan Parizek and
Allan Magid took down Aleksa Daskalovic and Adam Kalivoda 6-3 at #2 Doubles.
Fairfield fought their way through Singles play but
Tyler Shibles was the only Stag to pick up a win defeating Juan Ramirez at #1 Singles (7-5, 7-5).
Lewis Edwards also went three sets against Aleksa Daskalovic at #2 Singles but fell (6-3, 4-6, 3-6).
"We came out with a ton of energy and put together a very good Doubles point" said Head Coach
Jeff Bricker. "Unfortunately, outside of Tyler at 1 Singles we weren't able to get any other wins. Lewis played well at 2 and came up just short. Overall, we saw some good things on the break that will help us in April!"
Fairfield will return to action as they host Hofstra on Friday, March 29 at 2 P.M. on the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts.
