PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Just 24 hours ago, the Fairfield University Baseball team picked up back-to-back comeback victories and they were on their way to a third, but the Brown University Bears posted their own comeback win, taking a 9-8 decision over the Stags in the four-game series finale.
The Stags trailed 6-2 after three innings of play, but just like they did during Saturday's doubleheader, they found a way to fight back. The Stags started their comeback in the fifth when they loaded the bases with just one out.
Dylan Reynolds drew a walk to plate
Tim Zeng, one of four runs that Zeng would score in the contest.
Dan Ryan followed with the big hit, a two run single up the middle to put the deficit at 6-5.
Fairfield would follow with another three spot in the sixth as they loaded the bases again.
Jack Gethings tied the game as his walk forced in a run.
Anthony Boselli gave the Stags the lead on a RBI fielder's choice and
Mike Caruso added an insurance run with a single to right.
Brown would mount their comeback in the seventh as they tied the game on back-to-back RBI singles. They would take the lead an inning later on a Caprio RBI single.
Zeng had the loudest of Fairfield's eight hits as he launches his second homer of the season in the third. Gethings was the lone Stag with multiple hits as he put his career total to 204 after a pair tonight.
Fairfield will now head to James Madison to begin a two-game road series with the Dukes on Tuesday at 4pm.
