GREENVILLE, R.I. – Fairfield women's tennis took down Bryant University by a score of 4-3 in an exciting comeback this evening.
The Stags dropped the Doubles point early unable to tally a win against the Bulldogs but would come back strong in Singles play.
Amanda Nowak picked up the Stags first point in #2 Singles with a win over Sarah Hickey (6-1, 6-3). Fairfield would go down 3-1 after falling in #4 and #6 Singles.
Diana Prinos started the comeback with a (6-3, 6-7, 6-2) win over Ada Boru in #1 Singles.
Sophia Prinos followed with a victory in #5 Singles taking down Leanne Kendall (2-6, 7-5, 6-3).
Aina March sealed the win for the Stags by taking down Arianna Oropeza in #3 Singles (4-6, 6-3, 6-4).
"That was a high-quality tennis match" said Head Coach
Jeff Bricker. "We showed a ton of heart against a really good Bryant team! Coming back from a 3-1 deficit is not easy but this team has the will of champions. Winning multiple three set matches is a great feat. Aina finished with the clinching win at 3. Now we need to build on this going forward. I'm so proud of them!"
Fairfield will return to action on Saturday, February 23 when they take on Saint Joseph's in Philadelphia at 6 P.M.
