MEDIA, PA. – Fairfield women's tennis picked up a decisive victory over Saint Joseph's as they took down the Hawks by a score of 6-1.
The Stags won the Doubles point as
Aina March and
Amanda Nowak defeated Laura Gomez and Paige Conrad 6-1 at # 2 Doubles while
Anna Komer and
Jessica Pil won at #3 Doubles 7-6 over Katherine Devlin and Madeline Hill.
Fairfield dominated in Singles competition beginning with
Anna Komer who won at #4 Singles taking down Paige Conrad (6-1, 6-2).
Amanda Nowak defeated Laura Gomez at #2 Singles (6-3, 7-6) while
Sophia Prinos won in #5 Singles against Alex Kramer (7-5, 6-2). In #3 Singles,
Aina March finished off Isis Gill-Reed (3-6, 7-6, 7-5).
Emily Lombardi finished the day with a win in #6 Singles (1-6, 6-2, 6-4).
"We've been focusing a lot this week on doubles, so it was nice to pull through and grab that point" said Head Coach
Jeff Bricker. "St. Joe's is a tough team to play so I'm pleased we were able to pull out the win. We had to fight at some spots, but that will help us as we move forward towards conference play."
Fairfield takes on La Salle tomorrow at 5 p.m. in Philadelphia.
