EDISON, N.J. – A key component of the defense in Saturday's season-opening win for Fairfield University Women's Lacrosse,
Caroline Mangan has been selected as the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Week. Mangan had five caused turnovers and four ground balls in her collegiate debut as the Stags upended host Holy Cross, 13-9.

Mangan got the start in the defensive half for the Stags, fortifying an effort that forced 24 Holy Cross turnovers. Mangan's five caused turnovers were the most by a MAAC player during the opening weekend of action. Collectively, Fairfield's nine goals allowed were also the fewest surrendered by any conference team this past weekend.

The Stags kick off the 2019 home slate on Wednesday, Feb. 13 with a 3 p.m. visit from UConn. The Huskies began their first season as a member of the new American Athletic Conference this past Friday with an 18-6 loss at #15 Syracuse.
