CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Fairfield University Men's and Women's swimming and diving teams finished a successful weekend at the New England Catholic Invitational hosted by Boston College with solid performances by both teams. The men took fourth place with 441 points while the women finished in fifth with 332 points.
The men had multiple top three finishes starting with
Evan Fair who finished third in the 400 Yard Individual Medley with a time of 4:11.64. Fair also finished fourth in the 200 Yard Backstroke and fifth in the 200 Yard Individual Medley.
Patrick Boyle placed second in the 1000 Yard Freestyle with a final time of 10:00.33.
Will Robinson finished in third place in the 100 Yard Backstroke clocking in at 53.56 which moved him into eighth all-time at Fairfield in the 100 Yard Backstroke.
Lukas Stanton placed second in the 3 Meter Diving with a final score of 201.90.
Samuel Tonole also placed third in the 3 Meter Diving at 197.70. Tonole also finished in fifth place in the 1 Meter Diving while Stanton placed sixth.
On the women's side,
Sara Ostensen finished in fourth in the 1000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 10:52.85 and eighth in the 500 Yard Freestyle (5:18.53).
Morgan Hansen also took home a fourth-place finish in the 100 Yard Butterfly at 59.64 and placed eighth in the 200 Yard Butterfly (2:13.67). Alexandra Miko-Rydzaj placed ninth in the 100 Yard Butterfly while
Victoria Krivitsky also finished ninth in the 100 Yard Breaststroke.
Erin Wind finished in third place in the 3 Meter Diving with a final score of 170.50 while
Caitlin Campbell placed fourth at 163.25. Campbell also finished in eighth in the 1 Meter Diving.
Samantha D'Alessandro,
Madelynn Mowad, Alexandra Miko-Rydzaj and
Maria Nitti finished in sixth in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay (1:41.87).
Morgan Rogers,
Victoria Krivitsky,
Morgan Hansen, and D'Alessandro also finished in sixth in the 200 Yard Medley Relay.
Rachel Landry, Nitti, Mowad and
Sara Ostensen placed fifth in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay (3:42.63).
On the men's side,
Evan Fair,
Benjamin Kebbell,
Arion Mete and
Ian Nelson placed sixth in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay (1:29.17) while
Will Robinson,
Guillem Perez,
Austin Twiss and
Peter Gori finished in fifth in the 400 Yard Medley Relay (3:35.14).
Robinson, Perez, Twiss and
Ian Nelson also finished in fourth in the 200 Yard Medley Relay (1:38.73).
Evan Fair,
Brendan Finnegan,
Jordan Rahurahu and
Peter Gori finished in fifth in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay (3:15.21).
"I am really happy with how the first five weeks have gone" said Head Coach
Anthony Bruno. "The team is ready to move into the next phase of training. This weekend we saw many strong swims and dives against quality opponents that are going to help us prepare for the rest of the season."
Fairfield will host their first dual-meet against UMASS on Saturday, October 12 at 1 P.M. at the RecPlex Pool.
