FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield women's tennis defeated their crosstown opponent Sacred Heart by a score of 7-0 today.
Anna Komer and
Sophia Prinos started off the day with a Doubles win over Kiera Tobia and Laura Crivei (7-6 (2-0)) at #3 Doubles.
Amanda Nowak and
Francesca Karman clinched the Doubles point at #2 Doubles with their (7-6 (4-2)) victory over Adrianne Alfonso and Brianne Lauria.
Paulina Bakaite and
Diana Prinos also won at #1 Doubles over Vitalina Golod and Lauren Santarsiero (7-5).
In Singles play,
Paulina Bakaite took down Adrianne Alfonso (6-2, 6-1) at #2 Singles while
Emily Lombardi followed up with a win over Laura Crivei (6-0, 6-3) at #6 Singles.
Aina March sealed the win for the Stags with a victory at #4 Singles over Keira Tobia (6-3, 6-1). At #3 Singles,
Diana Prinos defeated Lauren Santarsiero (6-5, 5-7, 10-7).
Sophia Prinos also took down Brianne Lauria (6-2, 4-6, 7-5) at #5 Singles while
Amanda Nowak finished up the match with a win over Vitalina Golod at #1 Singles (6-4, 7-6 (6-4).
"The women played a complete match today" said Head Coach
Jeff Bricker. "We came out a little flat to start doubles but turned it on late and played the big points really well! We carried that over to singles and were able to get the sweep."
"It's nice to finish the fall dual match season with a convincing win" said Bricker. "I'm looking forward to some of our women competing at the regional this weekend against the best the northeast has to offer."
Fairfield will finish their fall season at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships in West Point, N.Y. The championships will start on Thursday, October 17 and go until Sunday.
