FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Four members of the Fairfield University men's rowing team earned All-Academic honors from the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) for their achievement in the classroom in 2017-18. Casey Fuller was listed among the heavyweight rower recipients while Alyssa McNally, Gregory Coppola, and Seamus O'Brien were included among the lightweight rower honorees. All four student-athletes competed in this spring's IRA National Championships in early June.

To be eligible for recognition a student-athlete must have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.35 or higher, completed one full year at their institution, be an institutional letter winner, and also competed at the 2018 IRA National Championship Regatta. In all, 302 student-athletes from 28 member institutions were recognized. 

Fuller was a member of the varsity 4 that competed at this year's IRA Championship, the second straight year that he was part of the national championship experience. He will represent the United States at the 2018 World University Games in Shanghai this summer, becoming the first Fairfield University men's rower to represent his country since Chris Duffy was a member of the United States teams that rowed in the 1998 and 1999 World Championships.

McNally, Coppola, and O'Brien were part of the lightweight four crew that rowed at the IRA event which placed three of Fairfield's five lightweight rowers on the All-Academic team. The Stags' entry reached the petite final at the IRAs but did not get a chance to row in that race because the final day of racing was canceled due to poor weather and water conditions.
