Bruno Announces 17 Newcomers to Fairfield Swimming and Diving

Stags add nine women, eight men for the upcoming campaign

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Fairfield University Swimming and Diving Head Coach Anthony Bruno announced today a total of 17 new additions to the men's and women's team for the upcoming 2018-19 season. This year's incoming class consists of seven swimmers and two divers for the women's team and seven swimmers and one diver for the men's team.
 
"The Class of 2022 is one that myself and our staff are really excited to work with," said Bruno, the 2018 MAAC Coach of the Year after leading the women's team to its first MAAC Championship in program history. "In this group, we have multiple student-athletes that can make an immediate impact in dual meets and at the conference championship level. I love that this group can swim a wide range of events giving us flexibility with line-ups and a competitive training environment. We also were able to boost our diving training group which will be an added strength this season."

Coach Bruno: "Maddie is a tremendous competitor and will be a force at the conference level. She can swim a wide range of events and will give the Stags flexibility in the lineup. Maddie understands what it takes to compete and win at a high level from her time with her club. It's not every day you get to have someone that has been a part of YMCA National Championship in your program."

Coach Bruno: "Sarah joins a strong butterfly group and will add to its strength. She is accomplished at both the 200 and 100 level and has strong underwaters that also make her a threat in backstroke events.
