FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Six Fairfield University divers took a position in the top three of the 1-meter and 3-meter event on the first day of the Fairfield Invitational.
Andrew Cataldo highlighted the night by taking the first place in the 1-meter on the men's side, scoring 289.50 points in the 3-meter and following up with 234.35 points in the 1-meter. Teammate Tyler Robie secured the second slot in both competition with 190.70 points in the 3-meter with a strong showing of 202.90 in the 1-meter.
Colton Driggers made his debut with the Stags as the freshman collected fifth place in the 3-meter based on his 140.60 points and in the 1-meter with his 124.90 points.
Southern Connecticut State University's Elliot Speckhard (187.15) and Cole Mullarkey (141.85) rounded out the top five with third and fourth place finishes in the 3 meter. Mullarkey (191.60) and Mullarkey (170.75) repeated those placements in the 1-meter with University of Bridgeport's Vincent Militrano garnering sixth place with 110.00 points.
In the women's competition,
Lily Tonole represented the Stags' top finisher by taking third place in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events. The junior garnered third place in the 1-meter by scoring 207.35 points and in the 3-meter with 215.35 points. Sacred Heart University's Ryleigh Mahoney won both events by registering 235.10 points in the 1-meter and 246.15 points in the 3-meter.
Fairfield also saw
Jade Leblic finish fifth (181.50 points) while Allie Reback (6
th place – 165.20), and
Maya Kasica (7
th – 159.45) also competed in the 1-meter dive. Leblic and Reback secured fifth and sixth places in the 3-meter with 164.10 and 150.20 points respectively.
The Fairfield Invitational will continue on Saturday with the swimming events beginning at 12 pm.
