FAIRFIELD, Conn. – For the 13th consecutive season, Fairfield University Women's Lacrosse heads to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship Semifinals. The third-seeded Stags will challenge second-seeded Monmouth on Thursday, May 3 at 3 p.m. at Marist's Tenney Stadium in Poughkeepsie.

Fairfield (11-6) advanced to the semifinal round on the heels of
a 14-5 victory over Iona this past Saturday on Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium. With a win over Monmouth (8-9), the Stags would reach their conference-record ninth MAAC Championship Game, which is set for Saturday, May 5 at 1 p.m.

The
regular season meeting between the Stags and Hawks was contested on April 4 at Monmouth's Kessler Stadium with the Hawks coming away with a 14-11 decision. Fairfield leads the all-time series by a 10-7 count, including the lone postseason meeting between the squads as the Stags knocked off the Hawks, 8-7, in the 2015 MAAC Championship Semifinals en route to the conference crown.

On the other side of the bracket, top seed and host Marist will meet fourth-seeded Canisius on Thursday at 7 p.m. The Golden Griffs are also vying for a ninth appearance in the MAAC Championship Game, while Marist has made seven trips to the tournament finals.

The winner of the 2018 MAAC Championship will receive the conference's automatic bid to the 2018 NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship. The tournament field will be unveiled on Sunday, May 6 at 9:30 p.m.
