FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield women's tennis dominated Saint Peter's 7-0 today in their return home to the Walsh Athletic Center tennis courts for the first time this spring. With the win, the Stags improved to 2-1 in MAAC play this season.
Fairfield started Doubles competition with a win by default in #3 Doubles (
Courtney Connors and
Gabriella Campos).
Sarah Stuhlmann and
Emily Lombardi secured the Doubles point with a win in #1 Doubles over Stephanie Falcon and Azuri Hughes 6-0.
Diana Prinos and
Anna Komer also defeated Marta Ortega and Aidah Muhammad in #2 Doubles 6-0.
Jessica Pil started off Singles competition with a (6-0, 6-0) win over Marta Ortega in #4 Singles while
Anna Komer followed it up with a victory over Aidah Muhammad (6-0, 6-3) in #3 Singles.
Emily Lombardi picked up the shutout win over Azuri Hughes in #2 Singles (6-0, 6-0) while
Courtney Connors also swept Jennifer Guilherme (6-0, 6-0) in #5 Singles.
Diana Prinos closed out the day with a (6-2, 6-2) win over Stephanie Falcon in #1 Singles.
Gabriella Campos also won by default in #6 Singles.
"We rebounded nicely after a long, tough loss at Niagara" said Head Coach
Jeff Bricker. "Everyone handled the conditions well and took care of business. This is a busy week, so we get right back it on Wednesday."
The Stags will take on in-town opponent Sacred Heart on Wednesday at 3 P.M. at the Walsh Athletic Center tennis courts.
