TOWSON, Md. – Luke Fromert's go-ahead goal with 3:29 remaining proved decisive as Fairfield University Men's Lacrosse wrapped up its 2018 campaign with an 8-7 loss on Saturday at Towson. The Stags were led on the attack by
Joe Rodrigues, who scored two goals and handed out an assist in his collegiate finale.

Colin Burke scored a goal and handed out his team-leading 23rd assist of the campaign. Burke also led the squad with 40 points in 2018. He is the first Stag since 1999 and the fourth in history to record at least 40 points in each of his first three seasons at Fairfield.
Drew Murray also scored a goal and handed out an assist in his collegiate finale. Fairfield (4-11, 1-4 CAA) also got single tallies from
Travis Ford,
Dylan Beckwith and
Frankie Labetti.
Jack Brennan handed out an assist to round out the scoring.
In the midfield,
Will Fox came away with six faceoffs to finalize his career total at 503 faceoffs won. Fox will graduate ranked second in program history behind Peter Vlahakis '04 in faceoff wins (503), win percentage (.555) and ground balls (220). Fox had four ground balls in today's effort.
Sean McKee made six saves in the cage to go along with two caused turnovers and two ground balls. The defense in front of him was paced by seniors
J.B. Smith and
Spencer Noonan with three ground balls and one caused turnover apiece.
Kendall Keahey also collected a pair of ground balls in the midfield.
Jean-Luc Chetner and Grant Maloof led Towson (6-7, 3-2 CAA) with two goals and two assists each. Shane Brennan made nine saves to earn the decision in goal for the Tigers.
Towson gained control early with a Matt Sovero goal less than two minutes into the contest. Maloof added both of his goals in the opening stanza as the host Tigers gained a 3-0 advantage after 15 minutes of action.
The Stags responded in the second quarter, firing home five straight goals to surge into the lead. Five different scorers accounted for the tallies with Burke, Labetti, Murray, Ford and Rodrigues all rattling the cage. The Tigers took one back in the final minute on a Timmy Monahan goal, but Fairfield headed into the intermission holding a 5-4 advantage.
The only man-up goal of the day leveled the score at 5-5 as Towson's Phil Wies scored on the advantage early in the third quarter. Chetner put the Tigers in front, 6-5, midway through the frame before Rodrigues finished a pass from Brennan to send the game into the fourth quarter deadlocked at 6-6.
Beckwith's goal off a Murray assist gave the lead back to the Stags early in the final quarter of action, but the Stags would not score again as Chetner netted the equalizer and Fromert scored the game-winner as Towson escaped with an 8-7 decision.
