FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield women's tennis defeated St. Francis Brooklyn at home today by a score of 5-2.
The Stags dropped the first Doubles match but quickly bounced back winning the next two and clinching the Doubles competition point.
Diana Prinos and
Anna Komer took down Laura Dimante and Sara Stankovic in #1 Doubles 6-1 while
Jessica Pil and
Emily Lombardi defeated Andrea Rojo and Runsi Patro 6-3 in #2 Doubles.
Fairfield had to battle in Singles competition but ended up winning four of the six matches.
Emily Lombardi led off with a (6-1, 6-0) win over Andrea Rojo in #2 Singles while
Diana Prinos followed up with a win in #1 Singles over Laura Dimante (6-2, 6-1).
Jessica Pil came out on top in #4 Singles defeating Ana Orozco (6-3, 6-0).
Gabriella Campos finished the day for the Stags with a win over Runsi Patro in #6 Singles (6-7, 6-4, 10-8).
"The women did a great job today" said Head Coach
Jeff Bricker. "The doubles was a little tight, but they calmed down and played the big points very well. This was exactly what we needed before a MAAC match tomorrow at Monmouth."
Fairfield will have a short turnaround as they travel to West Long Branch, N.J. tomorrow to take on Monmouth in MAAC play at 12 P.M.
