Stags Host #10/11 Yale on Saturday at Rafferty Stadium

Fairfield welcomes in-state foe in search of second straight victory

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – On the heels of a Tuesday victory over Quinnipiac, Fairfield University Men's Lacrosse hosts its second consecutive in-state foe on Saturday as #10/11 Yale comes to Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium for a 1 p.m. faceoff. Tickets are on sale now at FairfieldStags.com/TIX and all of the action will be broadcast by the Stags Sports Network on Facebook Live.

Last Time Out
Fueled by a five-point day from Jack Brennan and 13 saves by Sean McKee, the Stags raced out to a 6-0 lead en route to a 9-6 win over visiting Quinnipiac on Tuesday at Rafferty Stadium. Joe Rodrigues added two goals to extend his team-leading total to 13 markers on the year, and the quartet of Liam DaRos, Taylor Strough, Brendan Quinn and Charlie Curran each scored one.

Will Fox played his part in keeping Fairfield on the attack with a 14-for-19 showing at the faceoff X. Fox, who entered the day ranked sixth in the nation with 9.00 ground balls per game, maintained that CAA-leading average with nine more pick-ups on Tuesday. Jake Tymon also helped to control the action in the midfield with a career-best four ground balls and a caused turnover.

Scouting Yale
The Yale Bulldogs have won their last three games to claim #10 in the Inside Lacrosse Maverik Media Poll and #11 in the USILA Coaches' Poll entering this weekend. Yale started the campaign with an overtime loss to Villanova before reeling off wins over Michigan, UMass and Bryant. The Bulldogs went 10-6 last spring to claim the Ivy League Championship and a berth in the NCAA postseason, where they fell at Syracuse in the opening round.

Yale is led offensively by First Team All-America attackman Ben Reeves, who has justified his place as a Tewaaraton Award contender with 14 goals and 10 assists through four games. Jack Tigh adds 14 points with eight goals and six helpers.

First-year goalkeeper Jack Starr started the first three games in the cage, posting a .475 save percentage and 10.13 goals-against average. Brody Wilson got the start in Yale's most recent outing at Bryant and made 10 saves with eight goals allowed in the winning effort.

Connor Mackie shoulders the load at the faceoff X, winning 50 percent (46-of-92) of his draws to date with 26 ground balls. Mackie was an All-America Honorable Mention and First Team All-Ivy League honoree last spring.

All-Time Series vs. Yale (Yale leads 10-1)
Despite Yale's 10-1 lead in the all-time series, recent meetings have been defined by close games. The Stags and Bulldogs have played three overtime contests in the last four encounters with Fairfield taking an overtime win in 2014 and Yale claiming double-overtime decisions in both 2015 and 2017. The Bulldogs are the only team against whom the Stags have played more than one multiple-overtime game.

In total, five of the 11 all-time meetings in the series have been decided by one goal.
