Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Stags Topped at Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Fairfield University women's soccer team fell to ACC member Syracuse by a score of 3-0 in their final non-conference road match of the season. The Orange used a pair of goals in the first half and a lone score in the second stanza to seal the victory.

Syracuse (4-1-1) attacked right out of the gate, picking up the game's first shot just 26 seconds into the contest. Two minutes later, the Orange pushed across their first goal with a strike for the top post by Katie Donovan. The Fairfield (2-3) defense kept the home side off the scoreboard for 28 minutes after that score but Carolin Bader headed in a corner kick for the second score for the Orange.

The Stags registered four shots on the evening, with freshman Liz Dumas picking up a team-high four including the only one on target. Jenn Wahlig started another Fairfield opportunity in the 83rd minute, when her header banged off the crossbar, and Jenny Jacobs' rebound attempt went wide.

In goal, Megan DeFeo picked up three saves in the first half and Jenna Pike picked up two in the final 45 minutes.

Fairfield will close out their non-conference portion of the 2017 schedule when they host NJIT on Lessing Field on Friday night at 7pm.
