FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- You might say it's a two-for-one bonus for fans of the Fairfield University men's basketball team on Sunday. Besides getting their first glimpse of the Stags since November 14, alumni, students, and fans will get to see their beloved team on George Bisacca Court at Alumni Hall, the team's first regular-season appearance at their on-campus facility this season. And when you throw in the bevy of promotions and activities scheduled as part of the day, an early arrival may be just what is needed to take in all the festivities. Highlights include Lil' Stags Club Day, First Responders Day, Touch-A-Truck, Holiday Toy Drive, and a pregame breakfast with Director of Athletics
Paul Schlickmann at the Barone Campus Center.

The Stags will host Old Dominion University, a Conference USA team that is off to a 7-3 start which includes three wins in its last four outings, for a 1 pm tip. The game will mark the third meeting between these two teams but it will be the first home game for Fairfield since the series began during the 2011-12 campaign. In the first meeting, Fairfield and Old Dominion met in Springfield, Mass. as part of the Naismith Hall of Fame Holiday Showcase. The game was part of a four-game event at the MassMutual Center. Derek Needham led all Fairfield scorers with 19 points, followed by Rakim Sanders' nine points and 15 rebounds. Chris Cooper posted a double-double for Old Dominion with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
One year later, the Stags headed to Norfolk for a December 2012 matchup with Old Dominion. Marcus Gilbert just missed a double-double with eight points and 10 rebounds as Fairfield came away with a 55-54 win. The Stags trailed 50-40 with eight minutes remaining in the second half but finished with a 15-4 run that culminated with a 10-0 run that turned a seven-point deficit into a 55-52 lead with one minute left in regulation. Amadou Sidibe was Fairfield's only double-digit scorer with 10 points. Old Dominion's DeShawn Painter paced his team with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Fairfield returns home for the first time since opening the season with wins over Penn and Loyola Maryland on the opening weekend of the season. The Stags won their first true road game of the year in their last outing, a 76-72 decision over LIU Brooklyn at the Barclays Center.
Tyler Nelson posted a team-high 17 points in the win against LIU Brooklyn. Classmate
Jerome Segura has found his scoring touch over the last two contests, posting a season-high 11 points at Houston before resetting that mark with a 14-point effort last Sunday.
Nelson represents the team's top scorer on the season with a 19.3 scoring average, followed by
Ferron Flavors Jr.'s 11.4 points per game. Flavors Jr. accounts for 25 of the team's 66 three pointers (38 percent) and is shooting 39 percent from behind the arc to date. Segura posted six assists in the team's last game, which raises his season total to 21. Nelson has a team-best 27 assists, while
Jesus Cruz has collected a squad-leading 17 steals in his nine appearances.
The Monarchs won three of their last four games, all of which came at home including victories over Richmond and Bowling Green last week. Old Dominion's average margin of victory during those three decisions was 33 points, handing down a 39-point win over Maryland-Eastern Shore, a 19-point win over Richmond, and a 42-point victory against Bowling Green. Five student-athletes are averaging at least 10 points per game this season, including brothers B.J. and Brandan Stith.
The two players are combining for 24 of the 73 points averaged per game by the Monarchs. B.J. represents the team's top scorer with 14.3 per contest, followed by Ahmad Caver's 12.1 points every forty minutes. Brandan Stith posted a double-double in the team's win over Bowling Green with a game-high 21 points and 11 rebounds, while B.J. Stith netted 15 points. Caver just missed a double-double with 10 points and eight assists to go along with five rebounds.
