FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Navigating security lines, quick dashes to gates, and negotiating aisle seats are all part of the airport and airline experience. And, no one knows the routine better than the Fairfield University men's basketball. After traveling more than 3,000 miles at an altitude of 30,000 feet in an 11-day period, the good news is that the Stags are enjoying life back on campus. The bad news is that the Stags' lengthy road trip continues this Friday when they head to Wagner University for a 7 pm game at the Spiro Sports Center. The game will represent the fifth of a seven-game run in which Fairfield will play away from its home venue.

The Stags finished  a four-game Midwest road trip last weekend that sent the team to Indiana and Ohio. After falling to #19 Purdue, the Stags went 1-2 at the Wright State Tournament which included a win against Gardner-Webb and a pair of losses to Jacksonville and Wright State. Fairfield owns a 2-0 record at home and a 1-1 record in neutral site games, but is still working on its first win in true road games (0-2).

Against Wright State, Fairfield nearly erased a 14-point second-half deficit and had a shot to win the game at the buzzer, but Ferron Flavors Jr.'s  attempt rolled off the rim as time expired. Trailing 47-33 with 13 minutes to go, the Stags outscored the Raiders 23-10 to set up Flavors Jr.'s shot. Flavors Jr. was instrumental in the comeback, scoring at team-best nine second-half points. Flavors Jr. is one of two Fairfield scorers in double figures for the season, posting 12 points per game. Tyler Nelson leads the team with 19.7 points every forty minutes.

The Seahawks bring a 4-1 record into Friday's game courtesy of a current three-game winning streak. Wagner has won its last two games by double figures, beating Staten Island at home by a 107-64 count and defeating Hartford on the road by a 72-50 score. The Wagner backcourt combined for 44 of those 72 points against Hartford, led by Blake Francis' team-best 17 points. Devin Liggeons (14 points) and JoJo Cooper (13 points) also performed well in the victory.

For Liggeons, the game marked only his second start in five appearances. Seven different players have earned a start for Wagner this season with Francis and Cooper being the only student-athletes to get the nod in all five contests. Francis is the team's top scorer for the season, tossing in 19.8 points per game. Cooper would be next in line with an 11.2 scoring average, while Liggeons places third at 8.4 points per game. Elijah Davis enters the game as the team's top rebounder with 6.2 per contest.

Fairfield and Wagner will meet for the seventh time in a series which began during the 1963-64 season. The Stags own a 5-1 record against the Seahawks, winning the first four games of the series before falling 76-64 in the 2015-16 meeting. Last season, the Stags rallied to tie the game on Curtis Cobb's three pointer with 16 seconds left and won the game in overtime, 70-64. Fairfield trailed by 10 points with nine minutes left in regulation but finished the game with an 18-8 run to send the game into overtime. Tyler Nelson led all Fairfield scorers with 23 points, making 10 of 11 free throw tries.

The series began during the 1963-64 season when the Stags posted a 105-89 win in Staten Island. It was the first of three road wins in this series for Fairfield, also posting an 86-71 decision in 1996-97 as well as last year's victory.
