HADLEY, Mass. -- The varsity 4 paced the Fairfield University men's rowing team as it opened the 2017 Fall season with a strong showing at the Hadley Chase over the weekend. The A crew picked up the victory in a field of nine entries which also included a seventh-place run by the Stags' B boat.
In that race,

Matt Marshall comprised Fairfield's A entry which won the event by more than 20 seconds, crossing the finish line with a time of 18:15.3. Amherst A and UMass A rounded out the top three in the varsity 4 with times of 18:36.4 and 18:39.0, respectively. Fairfield's B boat, which consited of

Seamus O'Brien, Greg Coppola, and coxswain
Alyssa McNally, crossed the line in 19:44 for its seventh place run The novice 4 secured first place with its run of 20:04.8 behind the efforts of Alex Iemus,
Patrick Carpinelli, Max Vazquez,
Tyler O'Connell, and coxswain
Garrett Strauss.
The men's novice 8 was up next and ended ts day in fourth place with a time of 21:04.02, an event which saw UConn A (18:01.8), Coast Guard A (18:22.0), and UConn B (20:59.9 secured the top three spots in this even. The Stags were represented by

The varsity 8 also saw Fairfield place two boats into the competition with the A entry earning seventh place with a time of 17:05.9 and the B 3ntry earning 13th place in 18:12.6. Tufts A captured the event with a time of 16:21.4, followed by UMass A (18:25.8) and Coast Guard A (18:33.8). Fairfield's first crew included
