FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University field hockey team hosts nationally ranked Virginia on Sunday at noon on University Field.
 Fairfield (1-7) vs. No. 16 Virginia (4-4): The Stags and Cavaliers have never met on the field hockey field and Sunday will mark the first meeting between the two sides.
 A Look at the Cavaliers: Virginia will visit Boston College on Friday night before travelling to Fairfield on Sunday afternoon. Last weekend, the Cavaliers hosted a pair of games against Princeton and UConn. They topped the Tigers 2-0 before losing to the Huskies 8-0. Junior midfielder Tara Vittese and senior forward Riley Tata lead the team with four goals each. Sophomore goalkeeper Carrera Lucas has made the last four starts for her squad posting a 2-2 record with 34 saves and a 3.00 goals against average. Â
 Last Time Out:  On Wednesday, the Stags travelled to Holy Cross for their only midweek contest of the season and lost in heartbreaking fashion, 4-3 in overtime. Emma Clark opened the scoring in the 16th minute. Erin Buckley and Maddi Haberl both tallied scores in the second half for Fairfield to push the game into extra time. It took just nine minutes for Holy Cross to earn the win, when Maureen Connolly notched her second goal of the game in the extra frame.
Milestone Watch: Senior forward Ann Burgoyne has now compiled the most goals in Fairfield history with 47 career scores. The forward is also third with 104 points, just eight shy of the record for a career. Julie de Paeuw can jump into the Top 10 this season as well, she has compiled 20 goals and 49 points over her career, ranking 8th on each of Fairfield's all-time lists. Goalkeeper Caitlin Bennett can add to her impressive career during her final season as a Stag. Currently she ranks third in games played (59), third in wins (25), third in winning percentage (.471), and sixth in goals against average (2.52).
 Looking Ahead: After Sunday's game, the team will be back on the road at Hofstra next Friday. Â
