202 Fairfield Student-Athletes Named to MAAC Academic Honor Roll

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Department of Athletics has placed 202 student-athletes on the 2015-16 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Academic Honor Roll, as announced by the conference office.

To be eligible for the MAAC Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have completed the 2015-16 academic year with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or higher (on a 4.0 scale).

Five Fairfield student-athletes completed the academic year with a perfect 4.0 GPA. And the 202 Stags were third most in the league, representing all 19 of Fairfield's MAAC sports.

In 2015-16, six Fairfield teams also earned NCAA Public Recognition Awards as the men's soccer, women's cross country, men's and women's golf and men's and women's tennis teams received the honor for their performance in the classroom. These six Fairfield teams posted scores in the top 10 percent of their sport and were tied with Iona College for the most teams recognized among the MAAC member institutions.

A total of 2,181 student-athletes throughout the conference were named to the MAAC Academic Honor Roll, and the complete list can be found here.
