Stags Host Siena on Military Appreciation Day

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University women's lacrosse team hosts Siena this Saturday at noon as part of a lacrosse doubleheader as the men's team will host Drexel at 3:00 pm. Saturday will also mark Fairfield University's annual Military Appreciation Day in which all military veterans and active duty servicemen and women will receive free admission to both games. In addition to free admission for military personnel, limited edition Fairfield Lacrosse apparel will be on sale with proceeds to benefit military charities and organizations.

 Fairfield (5-6, 1-2 MAAC) vs. Siena (7-5, 2-1 MAAC): The Stags and Saints will meet on Saturday for the 22nd time in program history. Fairfield is 19-2 against Siena and topped the Saints 11-7 last season.

Scouting the Saints: Siena is 7-5 this season and is coming off back to back conference wins over Manhattan and Quinnipiac. Most recently against the Bobcats, Siena claimed a 14-6 victory on April 6. In the win, senior attack Sarah Croutier tallied six points off five goals and one assist. The senior leads her team with 45 points and 35 goals this season. Behind her is a pair of 30 point scorers in Lynnzee Miller (32) and Michelle Schwartz (31). Freshman goalkeeper Samantha Horton has made nine starts this season for the Saints posting an 11.46 goals against average and 72 saves.

Last Time Out: The team topped Iona 9-7 on Wednesday afternoon to grab their first MAAC win of the season. Senior Julieanne Mascera tallied her sixth hattrick of the season to lead the way on offense for the Stags. Five of her teammates also notched a goal in the win. Senior netminder Chelsey Sidaras played all 60 minutes in cage making four saves against 16 shots. The Stags defense also caused 11 turnovers on the day, led by Colleen Reynolds and Alex Fehmel each with two.

Racking Up the Points: Two Stags now have double digit point streaks after Wednesday's win over Iona. Julieanne Mascera recorded three goals to bring her streak to 23. And junior Alex Fehmel had three points in the last game and has now tallied at least one point in 32 straight contests.

Balanced Attack: Fairfield has five players with at least 15 points this season. Leading the way is junior Riley Hellstein who has tallied 32 goals and five assists to total 37 points. Behind her is Julieanne Mascera with 30 points (25 goals, 5 assists), Alex Fehmel with 29 points (19g, 10a), Maeve Quinn with 22 points (11g, 11a), and Colleen Reynolds with 19 points (14g, 5a).

Looking Ahead: The Stags will head to Monmouth on Wednesday, April 13 for a 3:00 pm matchup with the Hawks.

All fans attending Saturday's lacrosse doubleheader are advised that the parking lot at the Kelley Center will not be available due to an Open House. Fans are asked to park in the Fairfield Prep parking lot. VIP parking will remain in the parking lot in front of Rafferty Stadium
