FAIRFIELD, Conn. – With two-straight wins, the Stags will make some history, but this team will take it just one game at a time. With seven-straight MAAC victories, the Stags are one victory shy of tying the program mark set in 1997 and will try to grab those victories when they travel to Saint Peter's this weekend. The three-game series starts on Saturday with a doubleheader at noon.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Stags snapped a four-game winning streak when they fell to crosstown rival Sacred Heart 9-8 on Wednesday. Fairfield nearly pulled off another epic rally by scoring four runs in the eighth inning but the Pioneers were able to hold off the Stags and secure a one-run victory. Michael Conti notched a three-run double in the eighth and Jake Salpietro led off the frame with his sixth home run of the season, which is tied for the conference lead.
FAIRFIELD VS SAINT PETER'S: The Stags are currently on a five-game winning streak in the season series against the Peacocks, and have amassed 94 victories against the Peacocks, 24 more than any other opponent. In the sweep last season, Troy Scocca led the Stags with six hits in the series, including a three-hit game in the finale while scoring two runs. Brendan Tracy also notched a hit in each game of the series, going 4-for-10 with two runs scored.
THE PEACOCKS SCOUTING REPORT: The Peacocks have been led all season from left handed hitter Jon Kristoffersen who leads the squad in basically every offensive category. His five home runs and three triples are both near the top of the conference. He is also the only player on Saint Peter's with a batting average over .300 (hitting at .333). John Leiter has been the ace of the staff with two complete games and 59 strikeouts in 49.1 innings.
UP NEXT: The two teams will finish off their series in Jersey City on Sunday at noon.
