Stags Host Quinnipiac on Wednesday

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University women's lacrosse team hosts Quinnipiac on Wednesday at 3:00 pm on Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium. The Stags currently sit in sixth place in the MAAC with three games remaining in the regular season.

 Fairfield (6-7, 2-3 MAAC) vs. Quinnipiac (2-12, 0-6 MAAC): The Stags and Bobcats will meet on Wednesday for the seventh time in program history. Fairfield is 6-0 against Quinnipiac. Last season, Fairfield topped the Bobcats 18-3 on April 22nd.

Scouting the Bobcats: Quinnipiac is winless in the MAAC this season, and  sits in ninth place in the conference standings. Most recently, the Bobcats fell to Marist 13-2 on April 16th. Senior attack Kathleen DeVito leads Quinnipiac with 23 points off a team leading 13 assists to go along with 10 goals. Her classmate, midfielder Aileen Carey leads the team with 21 goals. Sophomore goalkeeper Kyle Larkin has started all 14 games for the Bobcats, racking up 129 saves and an 11.62 goals against average.

Last Time Out: The team dropped a heartbreaker in overtime, 8-7, at Monmouth on April 13th. It was the third straight game between the two sides with a final outcome of 8-7. The Stags fought back from two goals down to force the extra period, but it was Monmouth who came out with the victory in overtime. Julieanne Mascera led the offense with three goals, while Colleen Reynolds and Maeve Quinn each had two points. Chelsey Sidaras made six saves in goal and picked up five ground balls.

Racking Up the Points: Two Stags now have double digit point streaks after Wednesday's loss to Monmouth. Julieanne Mascera recorded three goals to bring her streak to 25. And junior Alex Fehmel had one goal in the last game and has now tallied at least one point in 34 straight contests.

Top of the MAAC: Fairfield is among the leaders of the MAAC and tops in the nation in two critical statistics. The Stags are third in the league with 12.31 draw controls per game, which ranks 27th in the country. As good as they are at controlling the ball, they protect it as well. Fairfield leads the league with the fewest turnovers per game at 12.62, a mark that is 21st best in the nation.

Looking Ahead: The Stags will close out their home portion of the schedule on Saturday, welcoming Niagara for a noon time game.
