Women's Lacrosse Hosts Boston University Saturday

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University women's lacrosse team will look for its second win on this young season as they welcome the Terriers of Boston University to Rafferty Stadium on Saturday at 3:00 pm. The game will be the second half of a lacrosse doubleheader as the men will host Bucknell at noon.

Fairfield (1-0) vs. Boston University (0-1): The Stags and Terriers will meet on Saturday for the first time in program history. Against current Patriot League members, the Stags are 14-22 all-time. Last season the team faced the league twice with nail biting wins over Lehigh (5-4) and Holy Cross (7-6).

Scouting the Terriers: Boston University is currently 0-1 this season. In their first contest of the season, they dropped to rival Boston College 18-9. On offense, the Terriers were led by sophomore attack Mickenzie Larivee and Mallory Collins who each had three goals in the defeat. Earning the start in net was junior Caroline Meegan who made 11 saves against the Eagles. As a sophomore, Meegan was an All-Patriot League Second Teamer tallying 239 saves in 18 starts.

Last Time Out: The Fairfield women's lacrosse team defeated LIU Brooklyn 16-10 in the season opener last Monday. The Stags were led by career days from juniors Alex Fehmel and Riley Hellstein. Fehmel set a career high with six goals and seven points; while Hellstein also added a career high six goals and eight draw controls which matched a Fairfield single game record. Fairfield had three other goal scorers in Julieanne Mascera (2), Maeve Quinn (1), and Brenna Connolly (1). Colleen Reynolds played excellent taking the majority of the draw controls and grabbing five of her own while adding a ground ball. Senior Chelsey Sidaras manned the cage, making 10 saves in the win.

Looking Ahead: After Saturday's matchup, Fairfield will host Columbia on Wednesday, February 24 at 3:00 pm. That game will end their season opening three game home stand and begin a streak of seven consecutive contests away from Rafferty Stadium.
