FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University swimming and diving teams matchup with Holy Cross this Friday at 6:00 p.m. at the RecPlex Pool.
Last weekend, the men's squad fell to Manhattan on Friday and then Rider on Sunday. While the women earned a win at Manhattan before falling to Rider. Â
The freshmen were the highlights of the opening weekend. Colleen Young had a total of four individual wins in the two meets. Against Manhattan, she earned wins in the 200y Breaststroke and against Rider she had wins in the 100m Breaststroke, 200m Breaststroke, and 200m Individual Medley.
Jordan Rahurahu was equally impressive as he grabbed three individual wins. On Friday, he placed first in the 200y Butterfly and the 200y Individual Medley and on Saturday earned a win in the 200m Individual Medley.
Last weekend, both Holy Cross teams competed in the New England Catholic Invitational. The men placed third while the women placed fifth. Sophomore Steve Tierney led his team with a first place finish in the 100 Butterfly and a third place finish in the 100 backstroke. The leader on the women's side was sophomore Casey Sherman who took first place in both the one-meter and three-meter diving events.
After Holy Cross, Fairfield will compete against Fordham and Monmouth on October 28. Â
