FAIRIFIELD, Conn. - Fairfield University unveiled a new and improved Lucas the Stag on Monday in front of the entire class of 2019. The University has been hard at work redesigning the beloved Stag and was finally able to share his new look with the newest members of campus.
The presentation took place at the conclusion of the Once a Stag, Always a Stag event for the class of 2019. After the spirit squad led the students in a “Let's Go Fairfield!” chant, Lucas ran into the Quick Center Theater to excite the crowd and reveal his new look. His debut also included a complete takeover of Fairfield.edu as well as the launch of Lucas' new website portal.
Lucas will be showcasing his new look on and off campus over the next few weeks. On September 16, he will spend the day in New York City beginning with a morning visit at the Today Show. He will then meet with various alumni throughout Manhattan during the day. His big moment will come at 7:00 pm when he will throw out the first pitch at Citi Field for the Mets' game against the Marlins. That night is Fairfield University Night at the ballpark and over 650 Fairfield fans will be in attendance cheering on Lucas and the Mets. In addition, the Fairfield community will celebrate Lucas' birthday on September 17 with cupcakes in the Barone Campus Center during lunch.
This weekend, Lucas the Stag bobble heads will be distributed to students at three athletic contests occurring on campus. The promotion will begin at Alumni Hall this Friday at 6:30pm when the Stags volleyball team takes on Boston College, then at Lessing Field with women's soccer against Towson University at 7:00 pm. The weekend promotion concludes at University Field on Sunday with field hockey at noon against Michigan. For this match-up students and Lil' Stags Club members in attendance will receive a Lucas the Stag bobble head doll.
