BUIES CREEK, N.C. -- Tori Reed picked up a pair of hits while Angelina McGuire added an RBI but the Fairfield University softball team came up a run short in its final game of the Campbell Stampeded. The Stags fell to Morehead State by a 5-4 score after holding a 4-1 lead early in the game.

The Stags scored all four of their runs in the third inning to erase a 1-0 deficit. Fairfield took advantage of four Morehead State errors to score the runs with McGuire contributing an RBI after getting hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Brianna Levick, McGuire, Sammy Ruffolo, and Lauren Filicia scored a run in the inning.

Morehead State came back in the sixth and seventh innings, starting with a two-run home run by Dana Hutcfhins in the sixth frame. Lindsay Ward provided the game-winning run in the seventh inning with a solo home run.

Filicia and Ruffolo each had a hit in the game to combine with Reed's two base hits to give the Stags four hits in the game. Destinee Pallotto earned the start for the Stags and threw four scoreless innings before Nicole Gardon and Lauren Falkanger closed out the game for Fairfield.

Fairfield returns to the diamond on March 10 when it plays Creighton and Hampton as part of the Rebel Games in Florida. The games will be the first of nine contests played in the Sunshine State.
