FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Junior Julieanne Mascera nets four goals as Fairfield University women's lacrosse defeats Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foe Manhattan, 12-3, as part of a lacrosse doubleheader celebrating the dedication of Rafferty Stadium. Jenna Fuchs scored three goals for the Stags, who also received goals from Jamie Leone, Alex Fehmel, Maeve Quinn, and Olivia Russell.

Fairfield got on the board early, and established an impressive lead, going on a 9-0 run. Mascera scored the first three consecutive goals for the Stags at 27:14, 26:34, and 20:57 respectively. The first was unassisted, the second was scored off a pass from Fehmel, while the third was netted off a feed from Quinn. The Stags kept up the intensity with a pair of goals from Fuchs at 12:07 and 9:21.

Fairfield continued the run, with Leone finding the back of the net at 6:49. Mascera netted her final goal of the game at 3:12, once again off a pass from Fehmel. Junior goalkeeper Chelsey Sidaras kept the ball out of the Stags' net for the entire first half, by posting five saves. Fairfield took a 7-0 advantage into halftime.

The second half started much like the first, with the Stags coming out firing. Leone netted her second goal of the game at just 29:19. A little less than two minutes later, Fehmel scored before Manhattan's Kaitlyn Cunningham put the Jaspers on the board at 22:25. Fairfield quickly regained momentum, with Fuchs finding the back of the net, off a pass from Quinn, at 20:09.

Play continued for the next 11 minutes with neither team able to score until Quinn gave the Stags an 11-1 advantage, off a feed from Fehmel, at 8:48. A pair of goals from Manhattan's Stefanie Ranagan, at 6:32 and 1:38, narrowed the gap to 11-3. The final goal of the game was netted with just 19 seconds left in the contest. Russell scored her first collegiate goal to seal a 12-3 victory for the Stags.

Fairfield outshot Manhattan 28-16 and had a 22-14 advantage in ground balls. The Jaspers had a slight  9-8 advantage in draw controls. Sidaras and sophomore Caleigh O'Connor split time in the net for the Stags. Sidaras recorded nine saves while O'Connor posted one.
