The middle outing of a three-game homestand features more Colonial Athletic Association action at Rafferty Stadium when the Fairfield University men's lacrosse team hosts Delaware on Saturday, April 18.
Selected to finish sixth in the CAA Preseason Poll, Delaware posted a 7-8 overall record and 1-4 CAA mark in 2014. The Fightin' Blue Hens were the only one of the six current CAA teams to not make an appearance in the national rankings last spring. However, Delaware saw many of the nation's top teams with eight contests against squads either ranked or receiving votes.
Goalkeeper Conor Peaks has been recognized during the winter as a Preseason All-CAA pick for 2015, while midfielder Brian Kormondy – a recent draft pick of the MLL's Ohio Machine – and face-off specialist Tyler Barbarich were tabbed as Preseason All-CAA Honorable Mentions. Kormondy and Barbarich were both All-CAA selections at the close of the 2014 campaign.
The Stags will look to even the all-time series in this spring's meeting; Delaware holds a 3-2 edge on the ledger against Fairfield. After the Blue Hens won the first three encounters in the mid-1990s, the series resumed at the beginning of Head Coach Andy Copelan's tenure in 2009. The Stags won that meeting – a 10-9 triumph in Copelan's Fairfield debut – and emerged victorious in Newark by an 18-8 tally to begin the 2014 campaign.
Fairfield will conclude the regular season under the lights at Rafferty Stadium on Friday, April 24 against the preseason favorite in the CAA – Hofstra University. FairfieldStags.com will preview the 2015 Pride on Friday.
The Stags' 2015 season begins with Opening Day at Rafferty Stadium as Holy Cross visits the new venue for a noon contest. The clash with the Crusaders and all Fairfield men's lacrosse home games are slated to be broadcast live on FairfieldStags.TV.
