FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Baseball Head Coach Bill Currier has announced that Trevor Brown has been promoted to Associate Head Coach. He had served as an assistant coach since his arrival in 2012.
“Trevor's elevation to associate head coach is well deserved,” Currier said. “He's helped develop our pitching staff into one of the best in the MAAC, and he is also an excellent recruiter. With his vast NCAA Division I coaching experience, he's been a tremendous asset to our program.”
In 2014, the Stags had one of the best pitching staffs in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) with a 3.77 ERA and 282 strikeouts. The staff helped set the single-season program record for wins (32), tied the program record for saves (11), and set the program record for innings pitched (462.2). Fairfield also had two-pitchers earn All-MAAC honors, including EJ Ashworth, who was named to the First Team after going 6-2 with a 2.85 ERA, and Mike Wallace, who was named to the Second Team after going 5-5 with a 3.32 ERA.
During his first season as pitching coach in 2012, the Stags' staff led the MAAC with a 3.93 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP with opponents hitting just .269. Fairfield also set single season records for strikeouts (315) and shutouts (5) over a then-record 460.1 innings pitched.
Fairfield posted its best season in program history in 2014, finishing the year at 32-24 overall, 15-8 in league play, and appearing in the MAAC Baseball Tournament for the second time in three seasons.
