WAPPINGER FALLS, N.Y. – Brendon Miller tossed seven strong innings leading the Fairfield University Baseball team to a 9-2 victory in the Elimination Bracket Final, sending the Stags to the Championship Series for the fourth-straight season. Fairfield will now have a rematch with Rider tomorrow at 10am.
Miller surrendered just two earned runs in his seven innings of work striking out seven on five hits and just one walk.
He was given a 2-1 lead in the third when the Stags plated two runs.
Zach Stephenson started the scoring with a sacrifice fly and
JP Kuczik continued his torrid tournament play with a RBI double.
Fairfield added to their lead in the fifth on a
Luke Nomura run-scoring single and a
Connor Scanlan sac fly.
Fairfield capped their scoring in the ninth on a Stephenson RBI double and a
Matthew Bucciero RBI single.
The win was also Fairfield's 30th of the season, the seventh-straight year they have reached that mark.
The Stags will appear in the MAAC Championship Series for the fourth-straight season. The Stags will have to beat the Broncs twice to take home their third-ever MAAC Championship trophy. The first game has a first pitch of 10am.
