WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Fairfield University volleyball team fell to host UNC Wilmington 3-0 (18-25, 14-25, 16-25) UNCW Hilton Garden Inn Mayfaire Classic. Senior Lindsay Weaver had seven kills to lead the Stags.

Senior Marilyn Peizer and junior Hadley Orr had six kills apiece while sophomore Megan O'Sullivan had four total blocks.

The Stags (0-2) had an early lead in the first set, but the Seahawks used a 4-1 run to overtake them. Fairfield later narrowed the gap to 16-15 on an error, but UNCW went on a 9-3 run to close out the frame.

The Seahawks led from the start in the second set in the 25-14 win and carried that momentum with them in the third set, scoring the first eight points of the frame. UNCW (2-0) went on to the 25-16 win.

Fairfield closes out the UNC Wilmington Mayfaire Classic on Saturday against NC State at 9:30am and Coastal Carolina at 5pm.
