Liseth Named All-Region By National Fastpitch Coaches Association

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Catcher Lauren Liseth (Centralia, Wash.) earned a spot on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Northeast Region second team as voted upon the region's coaches. For Liseth, the honor adds to her growing list of accolades for her performance during the 2013 season.

The junior was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) player of the year as well as a member of the All-MAAC first team earlier. She also collected a spot on the Capital One All-Academic District I team, making her eligible for selection to the Academic All-America team.

Liseth was among the MAAC leaders with her .389 batting average while contributing a .764 slugging percentage and a .565 on-base percentage, good for second place in both of those categories. She also leads the league in doubles (15) and walks (55). Liseth has tallied 49 hits, 40 runs scored, 36 RBI and 49 stolen bases in 50 games played for the Stags this season. During the regular season, she fielded 195 putouts and assisted on 46 more for a .968 fielding percentage. She remains ranked among the nation's leaders in walks per game and on-base percentage.

The Fairfield University softball team, under Head Coach Julie Brzezinski, was the MAAC co-regular season champion and reached the MAAC tournament championship round. The Stags finished the season with a 29-21 record.
