Women's Lacrosse Falls At Siena 8-5

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – The Siena women's lacrosse team scored five goals in the second half to overtake Fairfield University, 8-5, this afternoon in the Stags' Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) opener.

Amanda Best put the Stags on top, 2-0, goals 20 seconds apart at 18:51 and 18:31 in the first half. Kelly Fenton made it 3-0 at the 16:03 mark on a free position shot. Siena broke through at 12:42 on a goal by Alyssa Treanor but Chloe Mangan countered with a goal of her own at 11:02 putting home a pass from Jamie Leone. Siena would score twice more before the half ended but trailed Fairfield, 4-3.

In the second half, Siena's Sarah Croutier tied the game at 17:43 with an unassisted goal while Katie Maguire put the Saints on top, 5-4, on a free position shot at 16:39. Croutier scored Siena's third consecutive goal at 14:45 on a free position attempt. Mangan pulled the Stags within 6-5 at 12:33 but Siena scored twice in the final four minutes for the victory.

Katie Keenan made five stops in the cage for Fairfield while Ashley Holdridge made 11 for Siena (2-8; 1-0 MAAC). 

Fairfield (5-6; 0-1 MAAC) is back in action on April 3 when the Stags host Marist at 3pm.
