The Red Foxes (23-6) finish the regular season with a perfect 18-0 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) record while the Stags (17-12) finish 11-7 in league play.

Fairfield will be the No. 3 seed in the 2013 MAAC Basketball Championship and will face No. 6 seed Siena College in a quarterfinal match-up on Friday, March 8 at 11:30am at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Mass. Iona College secured the No. 2 seed with a victory over Rider University this afternoon.

Junior Katie Cizynski posted eight points and eight rebounds for the Stags while junior Casey Grace had a career-high seven points. Rookies Christa Scognamiglio and Kristin Schatzlein chipped in with five points apiece.

Marist opened up an early five-point lead in the first half but the Stags cut it to 16-13 at 9:53 on a lay-up by Cizynski. That was the last basket Fairfield would score until the 14:08 mark of the second half. In that span which lasted 15:45 over two halves, Marist went on a 27-0 run, including 22 unanswered points to close out the first half.

Freshman Lizzy Ball saw a season-high seven minutes of action off the bench and recorded her first collegiate basket. Fairfield shot just 23.6 percent for the game while Marist shot 46.3 percent from the floor, 45.0 percent from three-point range, and 78.6 percent (11-for-14) from the free throw line.

It was the third time this season in which Fairfield has been held to less than 40 points. Fairfield's 33 points tied the mark for the second-fewest points scored in a single game in program history. The last time the Stags recorded 33 total points was during the 2011 MAAC Championship against Siena.
